Hema Malini has reacted strongly against an RTI activist’s accusation that she ‘grabbed land’ to start a dance academy in one of Mumbai’s prime locations.

Last month, the Maharashtra government allotted a 2,000-square-metre plot to the actress, who is also a Lok Sabha member, in the Oshiwara area for her proposed dance academy.

However, the allotment turned controversial last week when activist Anil Galgali, on the basis of documents procured under the Right to Information (RTI), alleged that Hema was given a plot worth crores for a paltry Rs 70,000.

However, earlier in the day, she refuted the allegation at a press meet. “How can someone say I grabbed land? I have not paid any money yet for it. I don’t even know how much I have to pay. I have not got land yet. I will pay according to the governmental rules and regulations.”

Saying price won’t affect her plans, she added: “I will take the land at any cost, as it is my dream to build a dance academy. It will be free of cost for all underprivileged kids. It will promote classical dance, which is deteriorating in our country. It is not for my personal benefit.”
