Has Gurmeet Choudhary become too big for his boots?

Gurmeet Choudhary has maintained a steady distance from daily soaps ever since Punar Vivah ended around 3 years ago. The reason was not hard to guess. Gurmeet had his eyes set on Bollywood and didn’t want to strengthen his image as soap artiste. But if the recent rumours are anything to go by, Gurmeet’s leap from TV to films has brought about a major change in his attitude. The actor detests being associated with television, say insiders.

Gurmeet Choudhary has maintained a steady distance from daily soaps ever since Punar Vivah ended around 3 years ago. He did appear on TV, but as a contestant on hugely popular reality shows like Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati (2013), Nach Baliye 6 (2013), Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (Season 5, 2014) and I Can Do That (2015).

The reason was not hard to guess. Gurmeet had his eyes set on Bollywood and didn’t want to strengthen his image as soap artiste. The strategy worked to some extent and last year, the television hunk was seen in 2 films -- Khamoshiyan and Mr. X, albeit in small roles. And now, he is all set to be a part of Vishal Pandya’s erotic thriller Wajah Tum Ho, which also stars Sharman Joshi and Sana Khan.

So far, so good. But if the recent rumours are anything to go by, Gurmeet’s leap from TV to films has brought about a major change in his attitude. And unfortunately, the change is not for the better, say sources.  That Gurmeet does not want to be seen as a TV actor anymore is understandable. However, some say he even refuses to be featured with small-screen actors, be it in media or elsewhere, fearing that it will affect his chances in B-Town.

That’s not all. The latest buzz is, Gurmeet is fretting and fuming over social media reports of him doing a TV show again. The actor detests even being associated with television, say insiders.

Don’t they say, ‘Never forget people who helped you on your way up, you’ll meet them on your way down’?
