Rajkummar Rao, who is celebrating his 37th birthday today, is an actor par excellence and his impressive body of work is proof enough. Apart from his acting prowess, he is also a good dancer. But did you know before trying his luck in films, Rajkummar first tried his hand at dance reality shows and that too in Boogie Woogie? Yes, you read that right. The actor had come to Mumbai to audition for Boogie Woogie with his younger brother. But, he got rejected back then.
We recently stumbled upon an old video of Rajkummar when he had appeared on India's Best Dancer to promote his film Chhalaang with Nushrratt Bharuccha. During his appearance, the actor shared his story and his love for dance. Back then, he said, “Many years ago when I was in Class 11, I had come to Mumbai to audition for Boogie Woogie with my younger brother. But, I got rejected back then. It feels great to be here today, and witness such amazing performances.”
Notably, judged by Jaaved Jaaferi, Ravi Behl and Naved Jafri, Boogie Woogie was one of the most popular dance reality shows which gave a platform to aspiring dancers on Indian television. It was the oldest dance reality show on Indian TV in India.
After Boogie Woogie ended, many shows came up with a similar theme. Reality shows like Dance Deewane and Super Dancer, lately, have been making huge buzz on the television.
