Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is often sharing his views and expresses his opinions on issues fearlessly. Being a famous personality, he is also at the receiving end of severe criticism, and often faces backlash for his tweets. Just recently he was massively trolled for his piece of advice that he gave to Vivek Agnihotri after Vivek Agnihotri tweeted that Shaheen Bagh has turned into an Islamist conversion centre and a hideout for criminals, where all kinds of illegal activities are being done. His tweet earned him a reply from Hansal Mehta who advised Agnihotri ‘hope you get converted to Islam’ to see that the religion actually stands for.

After that, he had been at the receiving end of several trolls. Not just that, he also received several online abuse and hate tweets. After which, Hansal Mehta reported multiple such instances of online harassment and abuse, only to get a response from Twitter that said, “Hello, we’re writing to let you know that after reviewing the available information, we didn’t find a violation of our rules in the content you reported.” Twitter’s response had Hansal Mehta fuming.

Sharing a screenshot of Twitter’s response, Hansal Mehta wrote, “I've reported multiple instances of abuse, hate tweets and harassment in past few hours and over the years. This has always been the response.” He further added, “This is the highly ineffective @TwitterIndia support. They turn a blind eye to this and they are as complicit in the current vitiated atmosphere as it's perpetrators. @Twitter @jack you have made this a platform full of state sponsored abusers.”
