Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is known to voice his opinions on social media. He recently expressed his disappointment over an ad commercial wherein Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was seen allegedly mocking Hindustani Classical Music. The ad did not go down well with Hansal who slammed the makers of the commercial. He called the ad ‘disgusting and disrespectful’ and stated that the "script and execution are in terrible taste." Mehta even mentioned he usually enjoys satire but this isn’t even that.
Taking to his Twitter handle, the Omerta director retweeted the ad and called out the makers for disrespecting the art. Hansal Mehta wrote, “This is a disgusting and disrespectful commercial. Pimp yourself but not at the cost of ridiculing art and it’s rich traditions. I demand that @Dream11 pulls this down. He added, “Everything about it ridicules Hindustani classical music. The stereotypical musicians, his outfit and applause of the audience for the mockery. I found it disrespectful and distasteful. The script, the execution is in terrible taste. I usually enjoy satire but this ain’t satire!” ALSO READ: OMG! Hansal Mehta REACTS To Troll Attacking Him For Giving A Flop Film To Kangana Ranaut; Filmmaker Takes A ‘Dhaakad’ Jibe At Actress

While some netizens agreed with Hansal, a few users trolled him for taking the ad too seriously. One comment read, “It’s in bad taste. Sure. Agreed. But why pull it down? IMO, Freedom of expression should be absolute as long as it’s not inciting violence or harm to anyone. Also, art and it’s rich traditions will remain intact forever but silly ads like these will be forgotten in seconds.”
Meanwhile, Hansal Mehta is a famous filmmaker in Bollywood. He is best known for making critically acclaimed films like Shahid, Aligarh, Omerta and Chhalaang.
