Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband Raj Kundra came under the scanner after the latter was arrested for allegedly producing and distributing porn films. Due to this, the actor had to face a lot of criticism from netizens on social media. Now, seeing netizens reactions and how Shilpa has been treated, filmmaker Hansal Mehta came out in her support urging everyone to allow her some dignity and privacy. He shared a tweet thread regarding the matter, saying how people have ‘proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out.’

"If you cannot stand up for her at least leave Shilpa Shetty alone and let the law decide? Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life ultimately are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out,” one of Hansal’s tweets read. The other tweet seems to be hinting at the Bollywood celebs who have maintained silence amidst the controversy. He wrote, “This silence is a pattern. In good times everybody parties together. In bad times there is deafening silence. There is isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth the damage is already done.”

He even slammed people who were stripping Shilpa’s image in public and passing derogatory remarks on her. His other tweet said, “This vilification is a pattern. If the allegations are against a film person there is a rush to invade privacy, to pass sweeping judgement, to character-assassinate, to fill 'news' with trashy gossip - all at the cost of individuals and their dignity. This is the cost of silence.”

In fact, Shilpa Shetty moved to Bombay High Court and filed a defamation suit recently where she was seeking to "have a chilling effect on the freedom of the press”. However, as reported by ANI, the court refused her plea on Friday and stated, ‘You (Shetty) chose a public life.’ ALSO READ: Hungama 2 Producer Ratan Jain Voices His Support For Shilpa Shetty Kundra; Says 'She Will Never Do Anything Wrong'
