Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl released today on the streaming platform Netflix. The film directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Dharma Productions premiered, today, August 12, on Netflix at 2:45 PM IST. While the film garnered a lot of praises from fans and critics, the Indian Air Force is not much pleased with it. ANI reported that the Indian Air Force has written a letter to the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Prasoon Joshi expressing their disappointment over the negative portrayal of the force in the movie that released digitally today. In the letter accessed by the agency, it is mentioned how there are some scenes that are misleading and portray an inappropriate work culture against women in the IAF. The excerpt from the letter read, “In the aim to glorify the screen character of EX-Flt Lt Gunjan Saxena, M/S Dharma Productions presented some situations that are misleading and portray an inappropriate work culture especially against women in the IAF.”
The letter by the IAF to the CBFC also stated how the prestigious force had expressed their reservations after watching the trailer of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The letter stated that the IAF asked the producers to delete the scenes, but mentioned how the makers didn’t abide by it. An excerpt from the letter read, “Dharma Productions was informed about the objectionable portion of the movie and was advised to delete/modify the same. However, the production house has not deleted the scenes but it proposed a media plan in the run-up to the release and insert a disclaimer in the movie”.
