We are aghast, and every sane person in the industry
should be, with the step-motherly treatment that PVR has given its baby FryDay,
which maybe even to PVR's surprise met with good response from critics and
masses alike. The collections have however been below par on Day 1, primarily
because PVR has not released the film in most places for more than just one
show. Not only the film's lead star, who is back in top form with this comedy
of errors (Did PVR also commit one? No. Theirs was a blunder) is complaining,
it's the film's director Abhishek Dogra too whose idea of a mish-mash of Bheja
Fry and Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar has provided rib-tickler entertainment in cinema
halls.
Govinda Upset With Frydays Distributers
Govinda who flew off to Jaisalmer yesterday to shoot his final schedule of his upcoming film Rangeela Raja, directed by Pahlaj Nihalani, spoke to SpotboyE.com EXCLUSIVELY this afternoon, "Art, or rather any form of creativity should be encouraged. Any businessman should keep commerce in mind but why with a per-conceived idea?" He continued, "Even if they had a pre-conceived idea, they should know by now that FryDay has been welcomed well--- so now they need to step up the shows pronto. I have a word with them and we are going to talk again on Monday, which is when I believe that remedial measures will be taken," and then added, "You can't hug a person who is standing with his hands folded can you? Hope better sense prevails."
A Still From Fryday
Govinda and FryDay's director Abhishek Dogra's anger stems from the fact that most theatres including PVR have given wider preference to Helicopter Eela and Jalebi, the other two releases this week. Says Dogra, "That's right. We have been discriminated against. Senior and talented actors like Govinda should be respected. How will people come on only that one solitary show which PVR or any other theatre wants them to? Just one show in so many places? Not done. This is tantamount to nothing but sabotage."
FryDay released on October
12 and besides Govinda, stars Varun Sharma and Digangana Suryavanshi in main
roles. FryDay is Dogra's second directorial after Dolly Ki Doli.
