SpotboyE.com was
the first one to tell you that Amitabh Bachchan will star in Marathi filmmaker,
Nagraj Manjule’s Bollywood debut film, Jhund. Later, it was reported that
Amitabh Bachchan has walked out of the project due to the film getting delayed
indefinitely. But now, reportedly, Big B has been convinced to join back. Well yes, with Bhushan Kumar taking over the film as producer, he has
also convinced Big B to come on board as lead, yet again.
A source close to
Mumbai Mirror informs, “Mr Bachchan had even returned the signing amount to the
former producers but when Bhushan heard the script he really liked it. He
decided to back the film and subsequently met him to bring him back. The makers
are now working on getting fresh dates from Mr Bachchan for the shoot.”
While talking to
the tabloid, producer Bhushan, who has previously worked with Big B on
Nitesh Tiwari’s Bhoothnath Returns, said, “I am glad that the project will take
off soon and I am getting an opportunity to work with Amitji again. When
(filmmaker) Savita Hiremath got the script to me and I saw Nagraj’s dedication
to the subject, it made me want to back it. The subject is very good.”

Talking about
Jhund, the story is about a retired school teacher who is behind the initiative
Slum Soccer –which uses football to change the lives of hundreds of slum kids,
helping them to negotiate the harsh realities of a marginalised life with the
game. Slum Soccer not only uses football to engage with children but also
supplement their education and impart social messages like sanitation, life
skills and gender equality. Today, the initiative supports more than 10,000
boys and girls across India. Many have gone on to find jobs in the police,
railways and banks, thanks to sports quotas in recruitment processes.
Team Nagraj had
met Barse in Pune, who had given an NOC. Sources say that Bachchan’s character
will be somewhat similar to what Shah Rukh Khan played in Chak De! India, which
released in 2007.
As of now, we are
happy Amitabh Bachchan is back in the ‘game’.
