It was in 2012 that the audience saw the cute and bubbly Genelia Deshmukh as a leading actress in the romcom, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, opposite her husband Riteish Deshmukh. The same year, she even had a Telugu release titled Naa Ishtam. But that year also changed a lot of things for the actress.

Genelia and Riteish got married in a Hindu and a Christian ceremony in February 2012. They had their first son Riaan in 2014, and second son Rahyl in 2016, and Genelia prioritised her family over working in films.

Considering that both her kids have grown up now, is there an acting comeback on the cards for the Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na actress? “I think I am ready. I have been ready for a while. Earlier when I used to act, I had to work every day, but now I have the opportunity to choose for myself. Being an actor means a lot to me in terms of acting and not the whole glitz and glamour. I love acting and expressing myself. So, I am just waiting for the right kind of things to come my way,” she responds.

She is also clear on what she has to offer to possible future projects. “I feel that there is so much I can do. I have always been this bubbly girl but I can also be a bubbly mum. Those kinds of love stories and films are what I am waiting for to come to me to choose. The industry at the moment is all about positivity,” she concludes.
