Sanjay Leela Bhansali is taking no chances with the shooting of his film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Every four days every member of the cast and crew is tested for the Coronavirus. "God forbid, if any one is tested positive they would have to shut down the shooting immediately,” a source close to the project informs.
It’s a fairly volatile situation on the sets. The crew has been cut down to the bare minimum. And yet the danger lurks in everyone’s heart.
“No one is allowed to take off the mask unless facing the camera for a shoot. No physical contact whatsoever is allowed, on or off the camera. After every shot the actors move to different corners. This is no way to shoot a film where actors need to constantly interact to look comfortable on screen,” says the source.
One wonders how Sooraj Barjatya would shoot one of his family films now. Barjatya is known to keep the family spirit alive on the sets, with everyone eating laughing and talking together, even when the camera is not on.
Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi stars Alia Bhatt in the title role. She had taken some days off to shoot for S S Rajamouli’s RRR but is now back on Bhansali’s set
Sources say Alia is transformed into a ferocious gangster in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
“She will be unrecognizable in the film. That’s how much she has changed herself for the role,” reveals the informed source.
