With Suniel Shetty recently recalling him receiving threatening calls from the underworld on 'The BarberShop with Shantanu' podcast, here’s a list of celebrities who made the headlines back in the day for their relations with the gangsters.
Sanjay Dutt: Having made a name for himself with his versatile performances, the actor was also quite notorious. From being open about his drug and alcohol addiction to being arrested in connection with the 1993 blasts, he was once the tabloids’ favourite. It was in the 90s that he was connected to Abu Saleem, who had visited Dutt’s house to store his guns.
Anil Kapoor: Being one of the most non-controversial personalities, it came as a shock to his fans when pictures of him and Dawood Ibrahim attending a cricket match together was circulated.
Mamta Kulkarni: Known for her performances in movies like Karan Arjun, China Gate and many more, it was reported that the actress was in a relationship with Vicky Goswami. While there was never any proof to the speculations, it was also rumoured that they had gotten married. She was named by the police, a few years ago, as one of the actresses who were involved in a drug racket.
Mandakini: Ram Teri Ganga Maili fame Mandakini had made it to the headlines for her alleged relationship with Dawood Ibrahim. It was reported that he used to finance her Hindi movie
Monica Bedi: It was reported that Monic was in a relationship with Abu Saleem. Not only was she allegedly getting movies because of his influence, but they were also arrested together in Portugal for entering the country on forged documents.
