A few days ago, an actress leveled serious allegations of sexual harassment against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and claimed that he forced himself on her. Now, according to a report in PTI, Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against Anurag Kashyap after the actress accused him of sexual misconduct in 2013. As per the report, the FIR was registered at Versova police station late Tuesday night after the actress reached along with her lawyer Nitin Satpute.
PTI reported an official saying that the FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement). The official stated that further investigation is underway and that Anurag will be called for questioning. According to PTI, the actress, in her police complaint, alleged that the filmmaker had raped her in 2013 at a place in Yari Road, Versova.
The official said that while the actress and her lawyer had approached Oshiwara police station at first, they were later directed to Versova police station since the alleged incident took place under its area of jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap has claimed that these allegations are baseless, and his lawyer issued a statement that read, “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest.”
