For a good change, Filmfare Awards 2020 was held amid the very serene Guwahati of Assam, which is located in the north-eastern part of India. The organisers were lauded for the very same decision, considering how this would have also helped in boasting Assam’s tourism and beauty. However, if Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15 writer Gaurav Solanki’s claims are anything to go by, him mentioning the beautiful Assam in his award-winning speech never made it to the final episode of Filmfare.
It all happened after a former RJ and critic Sucharita Tyagi took to her Twitter and expressed her displeasure over not a single Filmfare winner acknowledging Assam in their speech or during any of the segments. She then pointed out the hypocrisy by adding that the same people rooted for Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscars or Golden Globes speeches. “Filmfare ki kisi bhi winning speech mein kisi ney acknowledge kiya ki hum Assam mein hain aur yahaan joh ho raha hai citizens key saath galat hai? oaquin ki speech dekh kar taali bajaaney mein mazey aatey hain lekin,” read her tweet.
In a response to the same, Gaurav Solanki revealed that he did talk about Assam; however, the makers edited it for reason and it wasn’t shown in the final episode. He wroted, “Not exactly this but I talked about Assam in my speech..ki Assam ki aawaz delhi mumbai tak pahunchne se pehle hi ruk jaati hai. Humari zimmedari hai ki jaate hue thoda Assam saath le jaayein aur in aawazon ki baat karein. Par TV show mein wo speech nahi aaya.”
