Filmmaker, musician, and actor Farhan Akhtar has made a name for herself in the Hindi entertainment industry. Son of veteran Bollywood lyricist and screen writer Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, he recently opened up about his personal struggles after the divorce of his parents. Talking to Faye D’Souza for her YouTube channel, he recalled the hardships his mother faced while single-handedly raising him and his sister Zoya Akhtar. He expressed how he felt like a failure when his mother had asked him to live with his father after discovering his drinking habit.
Shedding light on the hardships faced by Irani while raising him and Zoya, he said that his mother took care of them while working so the last thing she needed, at that time, was for one of her kids to be like that. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, Farhan added, “I was drinking and doing a lot of other things like that. At that moment when I saw the effect of that on her, and when it came to a head with her, she was just like, ‘Listen, I have tried my best with you, but, I can’t. Maybe you go and live with your dad for a bit.’ I felt like I failed her as a son. The Dil Chahta Hai director went on to point out that even if he wasn’t treating his mother badly, he was still adding on to her stress, something that she didn’t need at the time. “That horrible feeling motivated me to go out and start working,” he concluded.
On the work front, Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna starrer Dil Chahta Hai. He went on to make his acting debut with Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On! He went on to impress the audiences with many other projects and his versatile performances. He is currently working on Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani starrer Don 3. He also has Jee Le Zaraa, co-starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt.
