Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar composed the highly successful screenwriting duo of Salim-Javed in the ’70s and ’80s. They are regarded as Hindi cinema’s greatest screenwriters and went on to work together on 24 films, of which 22 were in Hindi while two were in Kannada. Their works together had revolutionised Hindi cinema in that era and they gave highly successful films like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Zanjeer, Deewar, Don and Kranti.
Their last official project together was the 1987 film Mr India, post which the duo split up. And in this week’s episode of Arbaaz Khan’s Pinch Season 2, both of their sons—Arbaaz and Farhan Akhtar—get together and talk about their fathers' professional split.
Arbaaz acknowledged the fact that their fathers have given back-to-back hits before they split, and when he quizzed Farhan on his and sister Zoya Akhtar's reaction towards the split at that time, Farhan replied, “I find it incredible that whatever happened between Salim Saab and dad, it never trickled down to us.”
During one of the sections on the show, Arbaaz read a comment from a troll for Farhan who called him a flop actor and added that Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is his only claim-to-fame. The actor replied to the comment saying, “Iss flop hero ke zariye aapko Milkha ji ki kahani dekhne ko mil gayi, ussi se main khush hoon.”
The multi-talented, actor, singer, director, and producer has received several requests for his much-awaited Don 3 ever since Don 2 hit theatres in 2011. And Farhan shared that he has earned both love and abuse from the film's fans. “I share a love-hate relationship with them. They say, ‘Yaar please give me Don 3… MC, BC’,” he laughs.
