Content creator and Bollywood actor Taran Singh has been raking in praises from audiences for his portrayal of Spielberg in Aditya Sarpotdar directorial, supernatural horror comedy film, Munjya. Co-starring Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, Sharvari Wagh, and others, the film is a part of Maddock’s horror comedy universe including films like Stree, Bhediya, and Roohi. Singh, who plays a pivotal role in the film, recently opened up about his journey and experience of working in the industry during an exclusive chat with SpotboyE

According to you, why should people watch Munjya, and can you tell us about your role in the movie?
Munjya is a supernatural comedy horror movie. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, the film takes the audience through a chaotic and joyous ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. I play the character of Spielberg who is Bittu’s best friend portrayed by Abhay Verma. The plot revolves around how Munjya is troubling Bittu and Spielberg is trying to help his best friend. But the real fun begins when Munjya also starts bothering Spielberg. I urge everyone to go and watch this film because it is an interesting plot to follow and find out how the story unwinds.

Tell us about your experience of being the official content creator for Rajasthan Royals?
Oh my God, what can I even say. Those were the best two months of the year, like living my dream. It was a wholesome experience, learnt a great deal from the players, watching them play was a delight and observing the game up close. Sanju Samson, our captain, ensures everyone is comfortable, provides for a fun and healthy environment and it was a very smooth induction for me. I have had a lot of fun and made a few friends for life. Looking forward to the next season.

From being a content creator to now making your debut in Bollywood with Munjya, tell us about your journey?
Creating content and interacting with my social media community has always been my first and foremost love and will always be.

Having said that, the unexpected, pleasant turn of landing this Bollywood role seems nothing less than a dream come true. As soon as I finished graduation in Ambala, I came to Mumbai and started working with TVF. At that time, I learnt that Maddock is looking for an AD intern for their then untitled movie. So, I tried to get in contact with the crew, but then the pandemic hit, and the entire project got shelved. So, I returned home and started creating my own content. With time and my fans' appreciation, I started posting more and this influenced me to do better. This was my way to deliver a little bit of happiness to people during the tough times.

After COVID, Casting Bay’s team reached out after seeing my Instagram videos offering me the role within the film, I was initially thinking about working on as an intern. Hard work always pays off and the universe has a plan for all of us. I never expected that I would get a lifetime opportunity, but you see everything happens for a reason.

Any specific moment that you would like to share with the audience?
I would like to share this specific instance which made me feel that I have made it in life. After the trailer release of my debut movie, my building’s security guard who did not know what I did for a living one fine day after watching the trailer walked up to me and said, ‘You are that actor in the new movie. I just saw your trailer.’ And that’s when I realized Bollywood’s true power - it helps to build a connection with the masses. I was emotional and excited at the same time. This moment is truly special and will be forever etched in my memories.

What else is coming up for you in the near future?
Something exciting is in the pipeline. Will let the cat out of the bag in July 2024.

Anything you would like to tell the upcoming content creators?
Basis my learnings as a content creator since 2021 and the experience I gained while shooting for Munjya, my only advice to all aspiring content creators is to have faith and maintain single focus on your goal. Ensure you are the hardest working person in the room with keen attention to detail. Your passion will take you places provided you have the patience and conviction.
