Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut made an announcement about her next project on her social media. She also shared pictures and videos, giving fans a glimpse as she starts pre-production work on the new film. Kangana revealed her new project is titled Emergency and mentioned she will play the role of late Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actress also shared that the movie is backed by her home production, ‘Manikarnika Films’. Amidst all the talk surrounding the new project, Kangana updated fans with another detail related to the film.

Taking to her platform Koo, the National Award-winning actress shared that she will be directed her upcoming project titled Emergency. She also revealed the film will be written by Kahaani franchise writer Ritesh Shah. Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. Earlier, talking about the film in detail, Ranaut clarified that ‘Emergency’ is not a biopic, but a political drama. She mentioned it is a grand period film that will help her generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India. The actress said, “It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, apart from Emergency, Kangana Ranaut has Thalaivi in the pipeline. The film’s release was postponed due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ranaut also has films- Tejas, Dhaakad and Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda in her kitty.
