Divya Dutta Who Lent Her Voice To The Controversial Tanishq Advertisement Shares Her Views On Its Removal

Recently, an advertisement created by jewellery brand Tanishq left netizens divided. While some supported it, some opposed it. The advertisement showed a pregnant daughter-in-law being escorted by her mother-in-law to her baby shower ceremony which has been organised by Hindu traditions. The advertisement sparked mixed emotions leading to the brand removing it. Now, Divya Dutta who lent her voice to the said commercial, has reacted to it on social media.

On twitter, Divya Dutta expressed that she loved the advertisement and it is said that it has been removed. She also replied to one of the tweets and stated that India has always promoted brotherhood. Her tweet read, "Yes it’s my voice. It s sad it’s taken off air. I loved it.” Responding to a tweet that said, 'wrong is wrong, Divya Dutta wrote, “But sir don’t we all promote brotherhood?? We as India are all about that. That’s our soul sir. Unity in diversity bachpan mein sunte the. Aise to kitne ads hote the. Koi kuch nai kehta tha.. par chalein sabke apne vichar (We used to be told of our unity in diversity. There are so many other ads that no one comments about, but to each his own)!”

Earlier, celebs like Richa Chadha and Kangana Ranaut reacted to the said commercial. While the former found it beautiful, Kangana stated that it promotes 'love-jihad.'


Post the angry reaction of netizens, Tanishq put up a statement on social media informing all that the advertisement has been removed. The statement read, "The idea behind the Ekavatam campaign is to celebrate the coming together of people from different walks of life, local communities and families during these challenging times and celebrate the beauty of oneness. This film has stimulated divergent and severe reactions, contrary to its very objective.
