Based on the Muzaffarpur shelter home case, Bhumi Pednekar starrer Bhakshak has been making the headlines ever since its release. The movie has been receiving rave reviews from the audiences as well as the critics. Bhakshak highlights the horrifying case of young teenage girls being sexually assaulted at a shelter home. Director Pulkit recently opened up about the scripting and shooting process, where also revealed that he was battling cancer while working on the story.

In an interview with the Free Press Journal, Pulkit recalled that it was in the year 2019 that he was “hooked to the IVs in the hospital, fighting a demon called cancer.” it was then that his wife Jyotsana, who co-wrote Bhakshak, suggested that they needed to write so that they can come out of the bad times. It was while searching for the story that they stumbled upon the shelter home mishap in Deoria. He added, “We started digging further and realised a lot of shelter home cases across the country had the same story. We were shaken and suddenly we felt that our pain was nothing. And that was the moment we decided to make Bhakshak.” ALSO READ: Bhakshak Trailer OUT: Bhumi Pednekar Plays A Journalist Who Risks Her Life To Save Shelter Home Girls In This Intense Crime Story- WATCH

Talking about the most difficult scene to shoot in Bhakshak, the director of the Bhumi Pednekar starrer stated that it was the opening scene. As quoted by the media publication, “It takes a lot to shoot a scene where things are just not easy. It breaks you as a human. I remember after shooting that sequence, I couldn’t sleep the whole night. What broke me was not just that scene we shot but also the fact that what we shot had really happened to someone. This thought still makes me restless. I wonder why humans have gone to a level where even demons would not?” ALSO READ: Kept Pinching My A**: Bhumi Pednekar Recalls When She Was Inappropriately Touched At The Age Of 14
