A sense of relief pervades over the Bandra bungalow of Dilip Kumar, now that the 93-year-old thespian’s condition has stabilised at Lilavati hospital.
Enquiries from the film industry and the 93-year-old legend’s legion of fans have been pouring in from across the world ever since it became known that he had been rushed on Saturday around 2 a.m. to the hospital for respiratory problems and age-related complications.
His 71-year-old wife Saira Banu has been keeping a vigil at the hospital. Incidentally, this is the year of their marriage’s golden anniversary.
She corrected initial reports that Dilip Kumar had been admitted to the hospital’s ICU, by releasing a statement that he was in a private room and that he was on the mend. She has entreated his fans and the industry to pray for his speedy recovery.
Heartbreakingly, Saira Banu is coping with the situation bravely. Her brother, Sultan, passed away over two months ago. Bereaved, the beauty queen of the 1960s, is handling all the responsibilities on her own, with loyal staffers and a few friends by her side.
The Bandra bungalow, once a scene of animated discussions and intimate soirees, wears a lonely look, waiting for the thespian to return home.
Earlier, there have been health scares. The latest update is that Dilip Kumar is back on his feet at the hospital.
A long-time friend of the couple told spotboyE that Saira Banu was distraught but is composed now and has requested well-wishers to pray for the thespian to be even better.
InshAllah.
