Legendary actress Madhubala’s life journey has been quite inspiring. Her life story has urged many filmmakers to give a cinematic touch to her life.
Madhur Brij Bhushan, yesteryear actor’s younger sister is disturbed by the idea of making a biopic on her sister’s life. Tutu Sharma, Padmini Kolhapure's husband is keen to make a biopic on the late actress’s life. The apple of discord for her to make the film is her sister’s romance with legendary actor Dilip Kumar.

Madhur Brij Bhushan was so disturbed with the making of the biopic that she sent a legal notice to Tutu Sharma. However, it seems like that Sharma might have convinced her. She does not want her sister’s romance with Dilip Kumar to be played out in the film. A source informed ETimes that Madhur’s fear is that Sharma might sensationalize the love story of Madhubala- Dilip Kumar. On the other hand, another source suggested, “She wouldn't mind a small and soft mention of the same.”

But we wonder, how would the film look if there is no mention or little mention of the late actor Dilip Kumar as a lover? As everyone is aware that the late actress pined for him. Even Madhur has been quite vocal about their relationship in past, so we wonder why she is reluctant now it to be shown in the movie. In an old interview, she mentioned that, “Madhubala and Dilip Kumar were together for 9 years.” Further speaking about them parting ways she said, “If you believe me, it was the 'Naya Daur' case that created wedges between them. Tempers flared and things got bad. Shayad Allah ko manzoor nahin tha aur unka pyaar khatam ho gaya. Dilip saab had come home after that and yes, Madhubala did ask him to say 'sorry' to our father. But Dilip saab termed him as 'dictator and difficult'.”

However, Tutu is going ahead with the biopic. Talking about the film he told, “The biopic film being announced by me is based on the biography book titled 'Madhubala: Dard ka Safar' written/ authored by Ms Sushila Kumari which has been in the public domain for multiple years. Madhubala ji is a well-known public figure and it’s important that her story is made on celluloid for the public to see. I believe that it's a well settled law that nobody can claim copyright on a public figure’s life, not even their own kin. If that was the case we wouldn’t have seen so many biopics made on prominent figures through the history of our nation.”
