Shamita Shetty has struggled to carve a space for herself in the entertainment industry. Being the sister of a popular Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, success didn't come easy and she has faced backlash for a plethora of reasons owing to her professional life.
In 2000, intimate scenes were taboo in India and not many actors stood attempted to break the stereotypes by kissing a co-star in front of the camera. Shamita was one of the few to have achieved the feat, but it apparently left a scar on her personal and professional life.
The scene made a thunderous impact in her home, leaving her father upset with the same. In a recent interview, she revealed that her father didn’t talk to her for almost a month following her kissing scene with Uday. However, they eventually got on talking terms and her father understood that those scenes became more common in the entertainment industry.
But, being extremely close to her father, she was quite upset the entire time her father didn't talk to her.
While recalling the past, the Zeher star said, "I remember that time very clearly because my father had stopped speaking to me because of that one kiss. He didn’t speak to me for a month. I was so upset that he didn’t speak to me for a month because I was very close to my father. Of course, times change. Where would you see so many kissing scenes at the time? But as time went on, all of these became so common in our industry. Dad also understood, but after that, I have never kissed anyone on-screen."
