Bollywood filmmaker Sujoy Gosh is all set to impress the audiences with his upcoming suspense-thriller Jaane Jaan, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vijay Varma and Jaydeep Ahlawat. The movie is an adaptation of the novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. The trailer of the Netflix film was released on Tuesday and has been raking in rave reviews on social media. However, did you know that the director wanted to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan in the movie, before roping in Kareena to play the lead actress?
During the trailer launch event of the movie, it was disclosed that Sujoy was initially keen on roping in Saif and Aishwarya for the film back in 2015, when he was working on the script. It seems like destiny had other plans as Kareena ended up becoming a part of the highly-anticipated project. Talking about life coming to a full circle, the director explained how the Adipurush actor has had a history with the movie. He explained how like a ‘true husband’ Saif “shoved down his responsibilities on Kareena,” by making her a part of the project.

Talking about the leading lady, back in 2015 it was reported that Sujoy had approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the movie. The actress in an interview with Bollywood Hungama had claimed of signing two projects with the Kahaani director. She was quoted by Bollywood Shaadis saying, “I’ve agreed to do Sujoy’s Durga Rani and the screen adaptation of Keigo Huganshino’s Japanese novel The Devotion Of Suspect X. I don’t know which one he will start first.”
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha alongside Aamir Khan. Apart from Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan based on the Japanese bestseller The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino, she has The Crew and Hansal Mehta's next in her pipeline.
