Javed Akhtar is a celebrated Bollywood screenwriter and lyricist and he recently disclosed a phase in his life when he found himself attracted to a French woman and even went so far as to propose marriage to her. He recounted their meeting, which took place in 1977 on the set of the Rajesh Khanna-led film, Tyaag. He further mentioned that the lady in question was named Joseanne, and their initial encounter during the filming left a lasting impression on him. Subsequently, they crossed paths once more on the set of Andaaz, and from there, their friendship began to blossom.
Akhtar further recounted how Joseanne was residing in the Rex Hotel, near the Taj Mahal hotel, and after their shoot, she extended an invitation to her place. It was during this visit that she introduced him to her circle of friends. The veteran screenwriter disclosed that their bond deepened over time, and a strong fondness developed between them. Then, one day, Joseanne made the decision to stay in Mumbai while her other friends departed. He said, "It struck me, the taxi fare from Taj to Bandra was just Rs. 14. That's when I realized what was happening. So, I told her she had two options: either return home or marry me," Javed shared.
Although Javed eventually tied the knot with Honey Irani and subsequently with Shabana Azmi, his connection with Joseanne didn't conclude there. He disclosed that they reconnected 38 years after their last encounter while he was attending the renowned Kala Ghoda festival with Shabana.
