Imtiaz Ali’s 2015 released romantic drama ‘Tamasha’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is the most loved film of all time. The characters of Tara (Deepika) and Ved (Ranbir) struck the right chord with the audience. Besides the actors’ brilliant performances and iconic dialogues, the film was hit owing to its soulful tracks. The song ‘Agar Tum Sath Ho’ which depicted Ranbir-Deepika characters going through heartbreaking moments was the main highlight of the film. But did you know the scenes between Ranbir-Deepika were not written, it was improvised by the actors?
Yes, you read that right! The scenes depicting Tara and Ved crying before their separation, hugging each other, and walking away with Tara following him, and everything were not written. Both the actors had improvised it. As per a report in TOI, the song 'Agar Tum Saath Ho' was a last-minute addition to the film. This heartbreaking song was not filmed during the shoot of the film, it was shot much later and then was added to the movie. The song was composed by the music maestro AR Rahman and was sung by Arijit Singh and Alka Yagnik. Even after so many years, ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ hasn’t lost its cult and is still adored by the masses. Talking about the song, AR Rahman in an interview revealed that he wanted to make this song on a lighter note since Tamasha was a movie with many different dark shades. He was quoted saying, “I felt the song should be more simple because the movie is a complicated one. Tamasha is a heart-rendering movie but it is also dark. So I wanted something which was very earthy and simple. We worked on it three times to get it right.”
‘Tamasha’ was released on 27 November 2015 and it received mixed reviews from film critics and audiences.
