Priyanka Banerjee’s short film Devi, having an ensemble cast of actors such as Kajol, Shruti Haasan, Neha Dhupia, Neena Kulkarni, Mukta Barve, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Sandhya Mhatre, Rama Joshi, Neeranjan Iyengar and Ryan Ivan Stephen, released a few days ago. The short film revolves around rape victims and is a tale of sisterhood, suffering and truth. During a press conference for the film Devi, the actresses discussed some important issues such as the #MeToo movement, gender bias, and more.

Kajol opened up about the difference the Me Too movement has made. She said, “Yes, there’s a difference, and it’s not just on a film’s set. To be very honest, if you ask any man anywhere, after the MeToo movement took a life of its own and embroiled a lot of very well known people in it. I think somewhere down the line, men—good, bad, indifferent—took seven steps back.” She further said, that it was necessary and that everything is being done today more cautiously and with a lot more thought. She said, “I think more than good or bad, there's a lot of thought put into everybody's daily interactions whether it's on a set or in an office environment.”

Further elaborating on this, Shruti Haasan said, “Like she (Kajol) said, the awareness that somebody is questioning and you are answerable. That applies to human behaviour in general.” She also said how she honestly did not think that India would take it to that level and make it so big. She feels really proud that people had the courage to speak up.

The short film Devi was released on March 2, 2020, on YouTube. ALSO READ: Devi Twitter Reaction: Netizens Hail Kajol, Shruti Haasan, Neha Dhupia Starrer, Say It 'Hits You Right In The Feels'
