Ex-Bigg Boss contestant Payal Rohatgi called for controversy when she made a video and shared it on social media. In the video, she was allegedly heard saying derogatory things about former Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. A case was filed against her in Rajasthan. She was detained by Bundi police yesterday and now, the latest reports suggest that her bail plea has been rejected by the court. She has been asked to be in jail till December 24.
News agency ANI, tweeted that Payal has been sent to 8 days of police custody. The tweet reads, "Model & actress Payal Rohatgi who was arrested by Police over her comment on former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, has been sent to eight-day judicial custody by a local court in Bundi." Post her arrest yesterday, Payal herself had taken to social media to share the update with her fans. She had tweeted, "I am arrested by @PoliceRajasthan for making a video on #MotilalNehru which I made from taking information from @google Freedom of Speech is a joke @PMOIndia @HMOIndia."
Now, it remains to be seen when Payal will be freed. While she remains in Police Custody, politician Shashi Tharoor came out in her support recently and stated that she should be released. He tweeted, "There’s little doubt that the comments of @Payal_Rohatgi were tasteless &false, typical Sanghi drivel circulated on @whatsapp. But to arrest her is unwise: upholding freedom of expression means allowing her to say stupid things w’out police getting involved. She shd be released."
