Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are currently on a promotional spree for their upcoming sports drama ‘83’, which is based on India's memorable cricket World Cup victory in 1983. Ahead of its release this week, the actress has already seen the film, and post watching it for the first time, she called up Kabir Khan. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed her reaction and said there was a long silence on the call. Kabir also mentioned that Padukone was “not able to speak, she was choking up.”
While speaking to Bollywood Bubble, ‘83’ director Kabir said he initially thought Deepika dialed his number by mistake as she was not being able to speak. He was quoted saying, “I thought she has dialed me by mistake because I was saying ‘Deepika, Hello’, and there was silence. She was not being able to speak, she was choking up.” Kabir added, “She said ‘I’m so sorry, so sorry, I’m just too overwhelmed, I’m not being able to speak’ and I said, ‘Deepika, you don’t need to say anything more. What you’ve said in this one line and the way you said it, I know exactly the way you felt about the film.”
In 83, Deepika plays the role of Romi Dev, Kapil's wife. Ranveer will be seen playing legendary Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev. On December 16, the trailer of ‘83’ was played on the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
The movie also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, and Pankaj Tripathi. ‘83’ is slated set to release on December 24.
