While many hearts might be fluttering by now hearing to the news of Deepika Padukone playing Ranveer Singh’s wife in Kapil Dev’s biopic, ’83, but we hate to break those hearts as the rumours are, well, just baseless rumours! We have found out that Deepika Padukone is not doing the film and has not even been approached, let alone being a part of it. The reports are nothing more than just speculations and a case of putting 2 plus 2 to 5.

A well-placed source tells us that a few actresses to play Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Bhatia, have been shortlisted but Deepika is not a part of them. In fact, the makers will soon reveal the name of the one who will be playing Ranveer’s wife in the film.

Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh

Talking about the film, ‘83, it is based on India’s epic win in World Cup 1983 at Lord’s, where the Gully Boy actor will be seen getting into the skin of Kapil Dev, who was leading the Indian cricket team at the World Cup.

A few months back, we had told you how Ranveer Singh, along with picking up the cricket legend’s signature outswinger, also has the humongous task of picking up the cricketer’s special mannerisms and how the former Captain has been giving training to Ranveer on and off for it.

After shooting some scenes in India, the cast and crew will head to London to complete the second schedule of the film. All the World Cup matches including the final match will be shot in that particular schedule. And about Deepika Padukone playing Romi Bhatia, sorry, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the real life couple romance each other on-screen yet again!
