Deepika Padukone made headlines a few days ago, before the release of her film Chhapaak, when she made a visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi. Condemned and bashed by many for the same, a section of Twitterati was trending #BoycottChhapaak and #BoycottDeepika. Directed by Meghna Gular, Chhapaak, also starring Vikrant Massey, released on January 10, clashing with Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero. While Tanhaji ruled the box-office, Chhapaak didn’t perform as well as was expected.

Meanwhile, it came to people’s notice that Chhapaak’s rating on IMDb website dropped to 4.4 stars. Out of 6,900 total votes that were recorded, 4,000 reportedly gave the film lowest ‘1’ star rating, bringing the film’s IMDb rating down to 4.4 stars. This did not go unnoticed and many found it very suspicious. Netizens sense foul play and wonder if there’s more to this than people not liking the movie. They took to Twitter and called it out. One Twitter user wrote, “Sad to see that #Chhapaak despite being a good film caught in the vortex of hatred between ideologies. Many are attacking its IMDB rating for no reason, by doing so they are not harming @deepikapadukone instead they are ceasing awareness and good lesson being given by film .” Check out other reactions: ALSO READ: JNU Visit Costs Deepika Padukone Dearly, Are Brands Associated With Actress Cutting Down On Ads Featuring Her?
