It is almost a year after the makers of the Deepika Padukone starrer remake of The Intern had announced the project. But the untimely death of actor Rishi Kapoor who was on board, put the film on the back burner, now as per reports in Mumbai Mirror, the film is scheduled to go on floors in mid-2021. Meanwhile the makers are looking for an actor to step into the role which was earlier supposed to be played by the late actor Rishi Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor was supposed to play Robert De Niro's character in this remake of The Intern, with Deepika all geared up to play Anne Hathway’s role. The actress sharing the news of coming on board for this project had penned in her social media post, “Thrilled to present my next! The Indian adaptation of #TheIntern A 2021 release!” The film was supposed to be released in 2021, but with the outbreak of COVID-19, the film got delayed. Thus, the film’s release date will be altered now.
Few months ago the actress expressed looking forward to this film. She was quoted saying by news wire, “I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.”

Besides, The Intern, Deepika is currently shooting for Shakun Batra’s next and as per reports in media, she has been roped in for Pathan co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and one more film with Baahubali famed actor Prabhas.
