Shakun Batra’s directorial ‘Gehraiyaan’ is receiving mixed reactions from the audience. While for some it failed to evoke human emotions for others it’s a new-age millennial story that revolves around complex relationships and infidelity. However, Deepika Padukone is receiving love and appreciation for playing the role of Alisha who has an affair with her cousin Tia's fiancé Zain. Deepika recently opened up about her personal opinions on whether cheating one’s partner is still a big deal in a relationship. ALSO READ: VIRAL! In an interview with We Are Yuvaa, the Piku actress said that she personally doesn’t endorse it. The actress also mentioned that she is no one to judge someone else’s relationship. "Relationships are truly based on connections and when you have lost that connection in itself, then there is no relationship”, Deepika was quoted saying.
Adding to this, the 36-year-old actress explained, “Whereas, sometimes maybe the physical attraction is still sort of a passing thing. I think as long as you have respect for the other person, I think that’s really important.”
Deepika also laid stress about what she thinks is more hurtful than cheating or having an affair. She stated, “I mean, monogamy, physical attraction, is one thing but I would be far more disappointed if there was emotional infidelity. Not to say that physical infidelity is okay but emotional infidelity is far more hurtful than anything else."
Deepika’s character in the film suffers from anxiety issues. In her personal life too, Deepika has suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts. She has been quite vocal about her battle with depression. The 83 actress, who came out in 2015 as having battled depression, runs the Live Love Laugh Foundation, which aims to help those struggling with their mental health.
