Deepika Padukone’s recently-released Chhapaak was in the news due to mixed reasons. While Chhapaak opened to rave reviews, it was the actress’ JNU visit that got her and the film embroiled in a streak of controversies. Right before its release, Deepika Padukone was spotted standing in solidarity with the JNU students over the CAA protests and attacks. The actress was massively trolled and criticised by a certain group of people, who demanded a boycott on Chhapaak. Well, the film’s rating on the IMDb website, too, witnessed a drastic fall and a lot of negative reviews.
Chhapaak got the lowest rating of ‘1’ star from 4,000 people out of 6,900, which brought the film’s rating to 4.4 stars. This, of course, appeared suspicious, keeping the ongoing events in mind and how Chhapaak received good reviews across. Soon after the same, Deepika Padukone herself was asked to share her two cents on this reported conspiracy, to which the actress gave a befitting reply, referencing Chhapaak. During a radio chat show, Deepika Padukone had confidently said, “Unhone meri IMDb rating badli hai, mera mann nahi (They have changed my IMDb rating, not my mind).” It appears that the viral video is from the beginning of January. Chhapaak, which was helmed by Meghna Gulzar, had hit the big screens on January 10, 2020. Meanwhile, if the rumours are to be believed, Deepika Padukone opted out of Pradeep Sarkar’s upcoming biopic film on Binodini Dasi, as she wants to take a break from emotionally exhausting films. As for her next, Deepika has Intern’s Hindi remake and Shakun Batra’s upcoming rom-com alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.
