Filmmaker David Dhawan's film Coolie No 1 released on December 25, on an OTT platform. The movie, which is a remake of the 1995 film of the same title stars David Dhawan’s son Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in pivotal roles. 2020 film Coolie No 1 received good reviews from fans and critics. Now, during an interview, filmmaker David Dhawan was asked about the kissing scenes he had to film with his son Varun. The Coolie No 1 director opened up about directing Varun Dhawan during the kissing scenes.
Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, David Dhawan said that there is nothing embarrassing or difficult as they are all professionals doing their job. He said, “There was nothing difficult about it because we are very professional people.” Talking about shooting with Varun, the director added, “When I am shooting with him, I don’t look at him or ask him whether we should do this or not. I tell him that this is to be done.”
The filmmaker continued to talk about directing son Varun Dhawan for a kissing scene and said, “The script demands a kissing scene and so we have to do it. Practically, there is nothing wrong. Kissing scene is the lightest scene in the Indian films these days. It’s very fair when you are doing it professionally, you don’t look left, right, centre. ‘Arre yaar mera beta karra hai, sharam aarai hai. Kaae ki sharam aarai hai? There is no such thing. It’s all practical today. Now how the hero and the heroine do it is up to them.”
Meanwhile, so far David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan have worked together in three films. The senior Dhawan has directed his son in movies- Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and the latest, Coolie No 1.
