Earlier this year Alia Bhatt announced her maiden production, Darlings, a dark comedy about a mother-daughter duo starring Shefali Shah, Alia, Vijay Varma, and Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew. Darlings is co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Besides the first-time producer, Darlings will have a debutante director in Jasmeet K Reen.
Roshan Mathew was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Choked and Darlings will be his second feature film in Bollywood. The actor who is currently basking in the success of Kuruthi recently shared his first rendezvous with the Baadshah of Bollywood. The actor met Shah Rukh Khan for the first time on the sets of Darlings, Roshan says, "He (SRK) casually showed up on set one day and I was slightly awestruck. Not slightly, very obviously.!" Elaborating more about the incident, "So, we were in the middle of a shot and I didn’t really get to speak to him a lot, but I saw him, met him properly, hung around a bit and very conscious of his presence. And very very starstruck and then he left. So that happened," he says.
The Kuruthi actor recently completed his portion of the shoot. The actor had taken to his social media handle to announce the same. He wrote, "Thank you, Darlings. Hugs to the incredibly talented @aliaabhatt @shefalishahofficial and @itsvijayvarma. It’s been great working with you guys and watching you play. I hope I’ve not let you down," @jasmeet_k_reen @im_anilmehta @badwelkar #satish
Ask the actor how involved is the Badshah of Bollywood as a producer which he replies,' I don’t know, I only know from the perspective for what I was there for, which is where the principal photography of the film was happening. So, one day when he showed up, he watched a shot, apart from that I don’t really know. He must be a really busy man to be overly involved in a film that he is producing."
Darlings marks the second collaboration of Alia and Shah Rukh after the 2016 Gauri Shinde-directed Dear Zindagi. The film is set against the backdrop of a conservative lower-middle-class neighborhood in Mumbai and is said to be a story of a mother-daughter duo, who finds courage and love in exceptional circumstances.
