Definitely not because I didn't like the film. Let me shout over the rooftops that I loved Jagga Jasoos, and Ranbir Kapoor is easily one of the top 5 actors that India has produced. Raises a debate? Let it raise.
But what also raises a debate, rather, calls for a major unilateral voice of outrage is that why the hell is the celebrity hotspot, PVR Juhu Mall, not being manned after the shops shut at 10 pm?
It was a late-night show and when I walked in to Dynamix Mall which houses the multiplex, I suddenly realised that there was not a single security personnel to be seen anywhere. Yes, not a single one to frisk. Not a single one for even mere presence.
SEE THE PICTURES WHICH I PRESENT BELOW. See the deserted area at the entrance. Pictures don't lie, do they?
Worse still, a large section of the crowd even walked in without stepping through the scanners.
If someone had decided to walk in with a weapon and murder someone, there would be no one to stop it.
When I escalated to PVR upstairs, I was checked (thankfully) by the security outside the multiplex's door.
But why not guard the big complex?
Mind you, this is a mall which is also frequented by several Bollywood stars and distinguished people from various walks of life, who step in to watch movies.
I was shocked by the callous attitude to security and contacted a PVR official to get to the bottom of it.
The official (name withheld) told us: We have taken cognisance of this problem and informed the person who owns the mall. He is a certain Mr Nawab. We at our end cannot do anything to increase the security at the mall because that is beyond our jurisdiction.”
The next step was that we called up this Nawab. He picked up our call and told us that he goes by the name Nawab Miyan.
When we told him our horrid story, Nawab said: “I had hired 4 guards for a 24-hour surveillance. I don’t know where were they when you visited the mall.”
Okay, so now let me tell you that I had waited for a full 10 minutes before I took the above pictures. There were no guards in sight. And as stated earlier, this is the second time in quick succession that I observed this lack of security.
But Nawab was in no mood to admit. He curtly added, “I will look into it and have a chat with my area manager immediately.”
When we asked for his full name, he quipped “Miyan. And that’s enough," and ended the conversation.
It is strange, err, nauseating that Nawab, err, Nawab Miyan, does not know what is happening in his own property. The Dynamics of Dynamix Mall are not in place. Is such Nawabi attitude pardonable?
Amen!
