The Cyber Cell has summoned actor
Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli to record their statements within a week,
following an FIR filed against her by actor Hrithik Roshan in the BKC cyber
cell..
Kangana's
advocate Rizwan Siddiquee in reply to the Summons had
then said: "No Police Officer can summon my client Ms. Kangana Ranaut or
her sister Ms. Rangoli to any police station to record their statement as a
witness under Section 160 of CRPC. The Witness summons sent to my client and
her sister by the Police Officer is patently illegal."
Well,
the Cyber Cell has beaten a slight retreat.
Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee informs,
"The cops have now understood the provisions of law have duly and
withdrawn their demand of my clients' (Kangana, Rangoli) presence at a police
station, and have instead in a polite manner requested them to communicate the
date, time and place as per their convenience so as to enable the concerned
officer to visit them and record their statements.".
Adds Siddiquee, "My client Ms.
Kangana Ranaut who has been a victim as per Mr. Hrithik Roshan's claim can only
record her statement as a witness (victim) in the said matter, provided that
the concerned Police Officer further follows the provisions of law, and duly
hands over the copies of the F.I.R. and other related documents as demanded by
us under the provisions of Section 76 of Indian Evidence Act 1872. I have
sufficiently educated the concerned officer of my client's rights as has been
provided by the Statute, as well as her duties as a Police Officer. We will now
wait to see when would the concerned officer give us the required documents as
has been legally demanded by me for and on behalf of my clients in exercise of
their legal rights."
