Ever since the first-ever case of Novel Coronavirus ( COVID-19) has been detected positive in the country, Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh have cases suffering from the deadly virus. This week, the World Health Organization (WHO) also declared COVID-19 as a pandemic with several deaths across the world. As the ongoing Novel Coronavirus pandemic is spreading much faster than expected in the country as well, Zee Cine Awards 2020 has been cancelled for the public to avoid mass gatherings.
According to a statement released by Zee TV and Zee Cinema, the awards ceremony, which is happening right now as you read, is being shot as a televised event to avoid mass gatherings and spreading of the deadly virus. The statement reads, "As a measure of precaution on account of the continuing concern over the Covid-19, the ceremony for Zee’s annual film awards property - Zee Cine Awards 2020 stands cancelled for general public to avoid mass gatherings.” The main reason stated behind this decision is measure of precaution needed to be taken on the concern of the fast-spreading virus.
The statement by by Zee TV and Zee Cinema further read, “Instead, the awards will now be shot as a televised event. We would like to assure the fans who had purchased tickets for the event through our associates and partners that they will be refunded at the earliest." As per the released statement, as the event is cancelled for the general public, the fans who have purchased the tickets for the events through associates and partners will be refunded as soon as possible.
