Some time back, when the trailer of Chhapaak was launched, it brought goosebumps and one could see the pain that the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal has gone through. Deepika brings her story alive on the big screen and while the trailer walked away with huge applause, now the makers have held a launch event to release the film’s title track.
The event has Gulzar, Deepika Padukone, Laxmi Agarwal, Vikrant Massey, Meghna Gulzar, Govind Sandhu, Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy and Vijay Singh in attendance. Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar with a lot of pride revealed that Chhapaak is the first film to receive a U certificate that too with no cuts whatsoever.
Laxmi Agarwal spoke about her first reaction on seeing the first look of Chhapaak and Deepika Padukone essaying her character on celluloid.
Said Laxmi, “Mujhe bohot khushi hui aur mujhe yeh laga ki ab toh ho gaya society ka kaam. Main so rahi thi aur jaise hi maine first look dekha, social media pe, as logon ne mujhe itne saare messages kiye hue the, I said 'Wow, Laxmi!’ Yeh tha aur main jaha pe bhi jaati hu, logon ke dil mein Deepika ke liye bohot positivity hai. Like when I went to the set for the first time, I had realised that ki sach mein ab society ke dimaag se bohot kuch badalne wala hai. Seriously, thank you so much Deepika.”
Chhapaak is directed by Meghna Gulzar and will be releasing on Jan 10, 2020.
