Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput marked his debut with the film Kai Po Che co-starring Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh. The film was based on the book 3 Mistakes Of My Life written by Indian author Chetan Bhagat and received a lot of appreciation and love from the viewers and the audience. Speaking with Times Now, when asked about late Sushant Singh Rajput and how he was, author Chetan Bhagat responded to how SSR’s came across to him as a person. Talking about the film Kai Po Che, Chetan Bhagat revealed that nobody wanted to do a film with him. Chetan Bhagat then went on to share that director Abhishek Kapoor believed in him. Chetan Bhagat then said, “No one wanted to produce the film as it was based on Godhra riots in Gujarat. Then Abhishek decided that we will get newcomers in the film. But even for Sushant, it was a very risky move as it wasn't a love story or there was no lead in particular."
Talking about Sushant Singh Rajput, Chetan Bhagat further recalled the first time he met the late actor and mentioned how there was an innocence to him. Chetan Bhagat then shared how he asked Sushant why he decided to do the film, replying to the author, Rajput said, “Sir main bhi engineering college ka hun, aur aap bhi engineering college ke ho, aur humhare college main aap ki books bohot chalti thi, toh mujhe laga ki Chetan Bhagat ke books se karta hun toh safe hai.” Bhagat then mentioned that Sushant helped him come back to Bollywood. He said, “My career in Bollywood was resurrected by Abhishek Kapoor (director of Kai Po Che), Sushant Singh and of course Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh.” He added, “Sushant helped me to come back to Bollywood.”
