With Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Dil Bechara all set to premiere on July 24, 2020, author Chetan Bhagat took to his Twitter account, urged the film critics to write sensibly because he claims their verdict on someone’s work has ruined many lives so far. This Tweet of Chetan Bhagat got film critic, Anupama Chopra from the entertainment business to comment on it. In her reply to this Tweet of Chetan's, she termed it as debate stooping down to another level.

Now this Tweet from Anupama, got Chetan open a pandora's box. The author revealed being on the edge to end his life after her husband and well-known filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra snatched away all credit of his work in 3 Idiots. Their Twitter war began with Chetan’s Tweet which read, “Sushant's last film releases this week. I want to tell the snob and elitist critics right now, write sensibly. Don't act oversmart. Don't write rubbish. Be fair and sensible. Don't try your dirty tricks. You have ruined enough lives. Now stop. We'll be watching.”

Replying to which Anupama tweeted, “Each time you think the discourse can’t get lower, it does!”

Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone. The screen adaptation of his novel had won several accolades in the year 2010- 2011. Chetan had back then spoken out against the makers as he claimed both Hirani and Chopra lifted dialogues from hai book and did not give his proper credit.
