Rumy Jafry’s next directorial Chehre, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead, was eyeing an April 9 theatrical release this year, but it had to be pushed at the last moment due to rising Covid-19 cases in India. The film also features an ensemble cast that includes Annu Kapoor, Dhritimaan Chatterjee, Siddhanth Kapoor, Rhea Chakraborty, Raghubir Yadav and Krystle D’souza.
The film got into the limelight a lot last year due to the presence of Rhea in the film. After Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise during this time last year, the actress got entangled into a lot of legal issues surrounding Sushant’s death and also in a case about drug usage.
There were several reports that did rounds saying that Rhea will no longer be a part of Chehre or her part will be chopped off. The actress wasn’t the part of the film’s poster that released in March and there were doubts if she would be a part of the film’s trailer, but all those doubts were put to rest when the trailer released and she was in it. Later producer Anand Pandit has asserted that he would stand behind his actor and there was no scenario where Rhea wouldn’t be a part of the film.
Recently, in an exclusive conversation with Spotboye.com, Anand had revealed that they plan to stick to a theatrical release for the film and are looking forward to releasing in the next two-three months.
So, when asked if Rhea will be a part of the film’s promotion, Anand said, “As far as promotions are concerned, it’s our team that will decide who is needed for that. I don’t think with Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi present, we would need anyone else for the promotions,” he asserts. He goes on to add, “I don’t want to use Rhea’s situation for my commercial benefit at this point of time. If she is comfortable, we will give her some part in the promotional activities, but if she is not comfortable, then also it’s okay,” he concludes.
