Stars like Farhan Akhtar, Huma Qureshi, Hrithik Roshan, Anurag Kashyap, Swara Bhasker, Vikrant Masset and many others have spoken about the Citizenship Amendment Act and the protests happening all over the nation. Some of the stars even took part in the non-violent protest that took place in Mumbai. Though big names like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have chosen to stay mum on this, legendary poet Gulzar recently shared his views. He in fact took an indirect jibe at PM Narendra Modi's way of addressing the nation in his quintessential 'mirton' style.

At an event, where he was the Chief Guest, Gulzar was quoted saying, "Doston (friends) -- I was going to address you as 'Mitron' but I stopped. I was afraid when my friend Yashwant (Vyas) arrived to meet me from Delhi. These days one is afraid of all Dilliwallahs. One never knows what new laws they may bring." Further, he spoke about how writers should speak the truth and said, "Even today, even in these circumstances, if there is one voice that is pure, speaks clearly and speaks the truth, it is the writer's voice. It is like a flag." (Also Read: CAA Protests: Mira Nair Seeks Release Of Ishaan Khatter's Co-Star Sadaf, 'She Told Kids She'd Be Back Home That Evening')

Talking about his cosmopolitan upbringing, Gulzar narrated, "I am an amazing cosmopolitan precedent for my country. I was born in Punjab, fell in love in Bengal, and was raised in Maharashtra." The Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed on December 12 and it became an act. Ever since then protests, peaceful as well as violent, are taking place all over the country. Supreme Court is yet to give out its decision on the same.
