The protests against a line from from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil about the singing legend Mohammed Rafi just got hotter. Literally.
Fans not only in Mumbai but also in Nagpur and Delhi have protested against Karan Johar. Nagpur witnessed a peaceful protest but things took a fiery turn at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.
A group of Mohammed Rafi Fans had gathered at Jantar Mantar and started raising slogans against Karan Johar and the film's stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai. The protests became heated when the agitated crowd started burning posters of the film. Next they took out a picture of Karan Johar and set fire to it.
Shahid Rafi, the son of the late legendary singer shared a few pictures of the same with SpotboyE.
The trouble started with a throwaway line from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil where Anushka Sharma’s character Alizeh comments on Mohammed Rafi, saying, ‘Woh gaate kam, rotey zyada the.
Shahid told SpotboyE.com that he was extremely surprised by Karan Johar's silence in the face of the continuing protests.
"Fans from all over India have asked me if they could protest outside Karan Johar's house. Infact a couple of NGOs and a few fans also said that they would pelt stones at Karan's office and his house but I said please don't do this. These things couldn't be done by Rafi sahab as well. Also our family is not known for things like these so I stopped them," said Shahid Rafi.
When asked if he has contacted Karan Johar, Shahid said, "Why should I? If he wishes to talk he will."
