Anil Kapoor and Sridevi starrer Mr. India is one of the iconic films in Bollywood. The film is considered to be a classic. Anil Kapoor and Sridevi's blazing chemistry on-screen, created a hysteria back then. The film's remake has been making headlines for a long time. And now, the latest is that producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed that the film will be made for sure. In fact, he has stated that he is all the more determined to make the remake of this film after his wife Sridevi's demise. Boney wants to create a reboot and then a franchise of Mr. India.
Talking about the same, Boney told Mid-Day in an interview, "The idea is to create a reboot first, and then, make a franchise of it. It needs to be made more contemporary. We have a basic structure in mind. We haven’t decided on a timeline yet, but intend to make it soon."
Boney also highlighted the change in Sridevi's and Anil's image. He said, "While Sri was considered a glamorous star earlier, the audience’s perception of her changed after Mr. India — then on, she was seen as a powerful actress. Anil too became a more legitimate performer with the film. After Sri, I have even more reason to make the film now."
The producer also stated that the director and the cast of the original are open to join the reboot. He quipped, "If Shekhar is free, he can direct it. The cast and crew made the film what it was, and if anyone from the original line-up wants to be part of it, they can join us again.”
Well, earlier this month, Anil and Shekhar had met and shared a glimpse of the meeting on Twitter. Shekhar teased fans as he wrote: "Discussing the look for the next Mr. India 2, or another movie together? You tell them Anil."
To which Anil Kapoor replied, "Feels like déjà vu! @shekharkapur & I are deep in discussion about something new and super exciting! We're hoping to create the same magic we did before with Mr. India...The cap adjustment was lucky then, and it might do the trick this time as well! 😉" It seems the film might take off soon and we honestly can't wait to watch it.
