But will KJo indulge in his stage histrionics this time? Noooooo.
Why such a long Nooooo? Because KJo has firmly made up his mind.
In fact, he has even told the film's director Vikas Bahl why he wants to remain dissociated from the publicity campaigns of the film and let Shalia (Shahid, Alia) hog the limelight.
The Student Of The Year filmmaker is believed to have told the Queen director that he will, at no point, share the stage with Shahid. Of course, one can't drop Shahid from the promotions because Shaandaar, being a love story, focuses entirely on the actor and Alia.
The last time KJo shared stage with the Haider star, he had a very, very bad experience. And yes, SpotboyE, the sniffer of every news, got you that story too.

For those who've come in late, things had turned so bad between KJo and Shahid that he was happy to let go of his judging duties, and buzz was, thankfully his contract (which was for a limited period) was also coming to an end at that point. Shahid was butting in the creatives and wanted the script and presentation to revolve essentially around him (Jhalak in trouble, July 28). And then, the Haider actor asked the makers of the show to up his contract money by 100% mid-season. Shahid's demand was met with and this didn't go down well with KJo (SCOOP! Karan was fed up of Jhalak, courtesy Shahid, August 30).
But hasn't Karan anyway been away in Europe shooting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma? Would he have been able to fit in Shaandaar promotions in between?

Says a source close to the film, "If Karan wanted to promote Shaandaar, he wouldn't have thought twice before flying down for a few days. But he is determined to stay away from the movie because of his history with Shahid."
Yes, we have been tracking Shahid and Karan's animosity levels for each other, which have been rising by the day.
Will Shahid work in a Karan Johar film in future? Unlikely.
All said and done, the scene is too ugly to dwell on any further. End of story.
