We told you yesterday that FIRs were filed against Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Preity Zinta, who have been the brand ambassadors of Maggi
(Should stars face the consequences of endorsing products with false claims? June 2). The complainant claimed that he took ill after eating Maggi and hence, filed a case against its parent company, Nestle.
While Madhuri had already expressed her viewpoint on Twitter earlier in the week, Big B hadn’t reacted to the controversy.
When SpotboyE.com asked the superstar today, he simply stated, “I havent received any notice. In case I receive the notice, my lawyers will look into it.”
Not once to mince his words, Farhan Akhtar was firm in his standpoint. The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor was of the opinion that the said stars have got the raw end of the deal. Actors shouldnt be blamed for endorsements as normal public trusts the brand while purchasing it. The same way, actors too trust the brand before signing the contract as ambassadors, he said.
Preity too was vocal about the unfairness of the situation. She tweeted:
Last month, Shah Rukh Khan had spoken about the dilemma celebrities face as endorsers. The actor had stated that whenever he endorses a product, he tries to understand about it as much as possible but in the capacity of an actor, he cannot check the products.
