Bhumi Pednekar has come a long way from where she started. The actress has some noted films to her credit, which were not only commercial hits but acclaimed for its art too. However, there is one film in Bhumi's filmography, which stands as a dud at the box-office- Sonchiriya, driected by Abhishek Chaubey and starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Ashutosh Rana.
We met Bhumi recently through a video call and chatted with her about her films, directors, scenes and more. During the conversation, we asked her about Sonchiriya too, as it was quite a difficult role to play. The film may have tanked at the ticket windows but Bhumi hold it high in her list as it gave her a lot of other things, if not commercial success. Watch the video below (from 24:45):
"I did not see success with Sonchirya but by the end of it, the film made me stronger. I feel lucky that I was a part of such a good film, jisne mera craft aur strong banaya. Maine uss film se bahut acchi cheezein seekhi, mujhe bahut accha insaan banaya. So, I think it's the expereince which counts which enriches you, that's all that matters," said Bhumi.
Sonchirya released on March 1, 2019. It was not a commercial success but segments of media praised the film, barring its slow pace. It was said to have been made for a niche audience and not the mass, explaining it's box-office failure.
