This morning, we woke up to the shocking news that Taapsee Pannu has been ousted from Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake overnight. The actress spoke to Mumbai Mirror expressing her discontentment and demanded answers from the makers. And, now, here’s SpotboyE.com’s exclusive scoop on the actress who has replaced Taapsee.
We have learnt that Bhumi Pednekar is likely to step into Taapsee Pannu’s shoes. She will take Vidya Sinha’s place. It has been reported that Ananya Panday will play the other woman, portrayed by Ranjeeta Kaur in the original. We know that Kartik Aaryan has been roped in for Sanjeev Kumar’s role.

Pati, Patni Aur Woh (1978), produced and directed by BR Chopra, revolves around Ranjeet Chaddha (Sanjeev Kumar), Sharda (Vidya Sinha) and Nirmala Deshpande (Ranjeeta Kaur). Ranjeet and Sharda seem to living blissfully when the former meets Nirmala – his secretary. Ranjeet lies to Nirmala about his wife being terminally ill and they get closer by the day. Finally, Sharda gets a whiff of the situation and all hell breaks loose.
Meanwhile, talking about being dropped from the project Taapsee explained, “I was at the narration in November, in the presence of Juno and Abhay (Chopra, the film’s producers). I liked the script and gave it the go-ahead. I was asked to clear my schedule and I complied. Only the clauses remained to be negotiated. But they suddenly vanished. I just wish I had known this a little earlier because I would have cleared my schedule (for some other project). I had taken away dates from another film to accommodate the remake. I did it because I was keen on doing the film as Mudassar has contemporised the original story,”
When asked if she was given a reason for the decision, the actress revealed that the makers have been delaying the conversation. “Poor Mudassar also hasn’t been given a reason for it. He was just asked to ‘take someone else’. When I tried to confront the producers, I wasn’t given a proper reason. As much as I have been trying to get some clarity on the matter, they have been putting the conversation off, which is very weird.”
Taapsee has no qualms in accepting that this is indeed disheartening and she deserves an answer. “The money part had not even been discussed for it to be a problem. I assumed that I was the first choice since the director narrated the script to me first. After moving my dates, I think it would have been better if I was informed about the development instead of finding out about it from others. I deserve an answer. This is disheartening. I wish such a thing never happens to another actor. I am going to be careful about signing films before celebrating a good script. This has been an eye-opener.”
